About GEPCO

Gujranwala Electric Supply Company (GEPCO) aims to become a powerful and efficient electricity distribution company. It is working to take over the responsibilities and assets of Gujranwala Electricity Board (AEB), with a vision to expand its services and improve its infrastructure to meet future requirements. GEPCO intends to expand electricity facilities to areas like Sialkot, Narowal, Gujrat, and Mandi Bahauddin, as well as to new developing areas. GEPCO is under the jurisdiction of the Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA), which it established in 1998.

Gujranwala Electric Power Company was established half a century ago in 1977. Its head office is in Gujranwala.

Gujranwala Electric Supply Company (GEPCO) is responsible for supplying electricity to Gujranwala, Sialkot, Narowal, Gujrat, and Mandi Bahauddin, as well as many other districts, on behalf of WAPDA. Every electricity consumer receives a monthly bill which details the electricity consumed throughout the month and also your current bill.

Bill Parts:

Total Bill Amount: The total amount you owe based on how much electricity you use per month.

Consumed Units: The bill details how many units of electricity you have used in a month.

Meter Reading: Your current reading is pictured on your bill and the units used are written.

Fixed Charges: The charges levied by GEPCO every month to maintain the electricity supply in your area are listed.

Late Payment and Penalty:

Gujranwala Electric Supply Company (GEPCO) supplies electricity to a large number of consumers in various districts of Gujranwala, including residential, commercial and industrial customers. As a customer of GEPCO, the facilities provided to the customer and the responsibilities that you have are as follows:

Customer Categories:

  • Residential Customers: These are homes that have electricity connections for domestic use that do not consume much electricity, including lighting, heating, cooling fans, refrigerators, and pumps, etc.

Taxes in a GEPCO Electricity Bill

Your GEPCO electricity bill includes the amount of electricity you have used, in addition to the price, taxes, and charges. There are different categories of tax consumers, such as residential, commercial, and industrial. Tax is levied on the amount of electricity someone uses in a month.

Note for Residential Users:

  • If your monthly usage is less than 200 units, some taxes (e.g., GST, ED) may be reduced or exempted.
  • Higher usage (above 300–400 units) usually results in higher taxes.

Note for Commercial / Industrial Users:

  • Subject to higher rates of GST and income tax.
  • Withholding tax applies if the consumer is not registered with FBR.

How to Reduce Electricity Usage & Save Money?

Use low-power appliances.

  • Use LED bulbs instead of energy-intensive bulbs or tube lights.
  • If you use AC, install inverter AC and use AC/DC fans, inverter refrigerators, and solar pumps.
  • Replace old, high-energy-consuming appliances with new, low-energy-consuming ones.

Unplug devices that are not being used

  • There are many electrical appliances that are still using electricity even when they are turned off. Unplug them.
  • Unplug chargers, TVs, microwave ovens, and PCs when not in use.

Use ventilation and natural light.

  • Open windows during the day to reduce the need for bulbs and fans.
  • Use solar-powered lights.

Use less electricity during peak hours

  • Reduce electricity usage during peak hours from 6:30 PM to 10:30 PM.
  • Try to use the washing machine, iron, or water pump outside of peak hours to avoid high bills.

Maintain Appliances Regularly

  • Clean AC filters, refrigerator coils, and fans so they don’t use too much electricity.
  • Things that are equipped with modern and new technology use less electricity.

How to Apply for GEPCO New Connection?

You can visit your nearest subdivision or apply to GEPCO for an online or immediate connection.

Choose Application Method

You can apply:

  • Online via GEPCO’s official ENC (Electricity New Connection)
  • You can apply for your new connection by visiting the nearest GEPCO office.

Gather Required Documents

Take the necessary documents with you to the office.:

  • Copy of CNIC (ID card) of the applicant
  • Proof of ownership  (registry)
  • Undertaking / Affidavit (stamp paper)
  • Neighbor’s bill reference number (optional but useful)
  • No Objection Certificate (NOC) from landlord (if applicable)
  • Attested copy of property document (e.g., mutation, registry)

Submit Online/Offline Application

For Online:

  • Go to ENC official website.
  • Select your distribution company GEPCO.
  • Fill out the online form.
  • Upload the required documents.
  • Submit the application and note your tracking number.

For Offline:

  • Go to the GEPCO office and fill out the form for a new connection.
  • Attach all required documents
  • Submit your application to the SDO there.

Site Survey and Demand Notice

  • GEPCO employees will visit your site and check whether electricity is required as per the electricity meter request.
  • After visiting the site, the employees will approve your site, and then you will receive a demand notice (payment for meter connection).
  • Make the payment to the bank where the demand note amount is requested and keep the receipt.

Meter Installation

  • After confirming the payment, GEPCO will install the meter on your site and activate the connection.

How to Register Complaints About GEPCO

Customers of GEPCO areas can register their complaints online using the Customer Complaint Management System, also known as CCMS. Through this portal, customers can also track their complaints to see if their complaint has been resolved or not. This is a 24/7 help desk for all DISCOs. GEPCO Meter Reading

GEPCO (Gujranwala Electric Power Company) reads its customers’ meters every month to charge them for the electricity they have used during the month.

How Meter Reading Works

  • Once a month, a GEPCO meter reader reads your meter.
  • They read the electricity meter to see how many units have been used and share this reading with the billing department.
  • This reading is used to calculate how many units of electricity you have used this month and how much you are billed for.
  • Based on this, you receive a bill from GEPCO which you have to pay before the due date.

How to Check Your Meter Reading Yourself

  • Look at the digits running on your meter screen. Note the number that follows the meter number. These are the current units.
  • Look at the units from last month on last month’s bill and subtract the current reading. The number of units you have used will be displayed in front of you.

GEPCO Electricity Meter Reading Schedule

  • You can see the date of your electricity meter reading on your electricity bill. The reading will be on the same date every month.

If your meter reading is incorrect

So your bill may be higher this month or next month.

  • Take a picture of your electricity meter’s current reading.
  • Compare it with the reading image that appears on your bill.
  • If you notice a big difference, complain to the helpline immediately or go and get your bill corrected.
