How Meter Reading Works
- Once a month, a GEPCO meter reader reads your meter.
- They read the electricity meter to see how many units have been used and share this reading with the billing department.
- This reading is used to calculate how many units of electricity you have used this month and how much you are billed for.
Based on this, you receive a bill from GEPCO which you have to pay before the due date.
How to Check Your Meter Reading Yourself
- Look at the digits running on your meter screen. Note the number that follows the meter number. These are the current units.
Look at the units from last month on last month’s bill and subtract the current reading. The number of units you have used will be displayed in front of you.
Where to Find the Reading on Your GEPCO Bill
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Present Reading | The latest meter reading taken |
| Previous Reading | The last month’s meter reading |
| Units Consumed | Difference between the two readings |
| Reading Date | The date meter reading was taken |

If your meter reading is incorrect
So your bill may be higher this month or next month.
- Take a picture of your electricity meter’s current reading.
- Compare it with the reading image that appears on your bill.
- If you notice a big difference, complain to the helpline immediately or go and get your bill corrected.
